Yes, it is BS. I transfered 23 domains out of yahoo and canceled 2 hosting plans. They are crazy. I dont understand why they would do this when others are still at $10. Everybody is sick of yahoo anyway and now they do something stupid like this. I dont get it myself.

Is it better to transfer on the $10 google domains? The one google offer in replacement of the free blogspot account for a custom domain.

Now my friend loses $245 (Really big money to pay for domains) in the Renewals in Yahoo domains. I have already warned him about this incident. He was about to transfer the domains. Again without any notification Yahoo renewed with the CC details in their records. (Do you all know that you cannot delete the CC details stored in the Yahoo SB Account?? )

Now he too joins in Screwed people list!!

Hopefully your friend can get his money back from his credit card as he did not authorize the payment.

Maybe Yahoo has already covered this and they have given backhanders to credit card companies to deny requests... otherwise Yahoo are likely to receive 1000s of chargebacks from disgruntled customers.

I do not have any domains with Yahoo, but do people need to cancel their Yahoo account as well to prevent them from charging the credit card? (I read it wasn't just straightforward if you moved the domain, you could still be charged).

Yahoo will still have a lot of people paying the prices... but the only way for them to even notice is if any webmaster affected by this scandal just totally drops and removes every single yahoo product they use (i.e. removing their toolbar and not visiting any yahoo properties, not linking to any yahoo properties and basically blacklisting yahoo for their antics...)

To think that such a famous and multi-billion dollar company would do such a thing...

Buying domain at Yahoo! is not a wise move!

    Try godaddy.com or name.com

No, we cannot get the moneyback. As I said before our CC database is already stored in their system, we cannot delete it. Only option in Yahoo is either cancel the domain or move the domain two months before renewal. They never send any alert emails. (Shame of yahoo being an email provider)

Yes, Godaddy and Name are good options rather loosing money to Yahoo. Godaddy and name are very professional, they always sent alert emails before any renewals.
