Does it pay to get into the yahoo directory? any benefits over reg yahoo lisitings, and does it effect any other engines like google etc.. how is the yahoo directory viewed by google etc
https://ecom.yahoo.com/dir/submit/intro/ Yes, all the noncommercial websites must pay to be included in the yahoo directory. Having listed in yhaoo dir will definately help you to gain few backlinks and PR. To get a better result in google Serps those backlinks are vital.
Yahoo directory has a lot of weight, but there are ways to get into the yahoo results without paying for inclusion. You won't get into the directory for free, but can easily get into the search results for free and even higher than sites that are added to the yahoo directory.
Even though i show up very well in reg search results, you guys are saying do the yahoo directory anyways, right?
Be forewarned. That if your homepage is ranked one for " Blue Mountain Region Widgets" or whatever...but your company is named ABCD...---ABCD will appear in the SERPS now. So will people be will to click on your companies name as opposed to the product you are selling? I went from like #3 to #1 for a few extremely competitive terms, but now I get practically no traffic from yahoo for them--- But yeah it does help a little.
oh wow.. so whatever the one name you set up in the directory is all regular search results will relfect that and not the page titles?? and i could lose clicks and results?
Dont waste your money on Yahoo Directory. Will give you some minor PR but you can spend that same money and get alot more out of it just purchasing links. I have seen no evidence it helps with the sandbox or anything for that matter. As soon as I dropped out of Yahoo Directory my Yahoo rankings went up as well.
You can probably do a seach on this forum for Yahoo Directory, there should be many diffrent threads of people asking how useful it is.
i was in the same state as you are in..should i spend that amt of money to get into yahoo directory?? or i could purchase links from other directory... i think i go for the later.
I found this bit of information about Google link sandboxing: "The probation does not apply to new sites. It applies to links. When the algorithm was deployed certain older links were grandfathered in. After that, links will be (are being) given partial credit, and be essentially on 'probation.'" "It applies to links, not sites. And the age of the link is not the only factor. The IP range of the links and other considerations are made, and the person who I discussed this with said that Krishna Bharat is at Google primarily to develop and implement this new algorithm. It is supposed to radically change the way links are evaluated." Can anyone confirm or deny?
