I've read that getting listed in Yahoo directory does help improve your exposure in search engine rankings. However, I don't think anyone is insane enough to spend $300 for a listing, especially since the $300 only covers "getting reviewed in a timely manner" and not "getting listed." So, if your site is not accepted, you lose $300.
Yahoo directory definitely helps with your rankings in G & Y. Moreover, if your site is not SPAM and submitted to right category it is guaranteed to include. Note that you would not get enough traffic from the directory itself but overall your rankings will definitely improve. Also, if you would think like link purchasing, it comes to about 25$/month, which is not bad!!
A listing in Yahoo directory is the best gift you can give to your website, if you can afford it. Google will love your site for that.
Hello, thanks! Yes I'm not going to traffic, I'm going to improve ranking , Why? Really I'm tired that Google show my site one month, another month not, 2 month yes, another month no. I'm going to improve ranking on Yahoo Thanks, Jakomo
I don't blame you. As much as I hate Yahoo's insane $300 listing fee, sometimes I consider it because I've just had it with Google's inconsistency.
Hello, I believe I have a good site with more of 1000 unique content pages, when Google WANTS genally rank top ten in many keywords, but I said when Google WANTS. My ranking in YAHOO and MSN is good for months.... Thanks! Jakomo
I'd say make a great site and don't worry about it. If your site is of the caliber they'll find you and add you for free. Same for DMOZ.
Hello Dmoz! I was waiting for more of 1 year here, I believe this is a monopoly in my category. Jakomo
If nothing else, you'll be sure to have your site crawled by Slurp in short order. That said, paying $300 is high and the same results could be achived for much less. But if you have money to burn, go for it.
Hello. ecard You said: That said, paying $300 is high and the same results could be achived for much less Please let me know how I can do it Thanks, Jakomo
Some people say it's worth the money, others say it's not. In my experience, I got more traffic from free directorys then yahoo.
Not to be finger-pointing but just to make your doubt clear, the new guys to SEO are the only ones who say $300 is not worth it to go for Yahoo. Look at the ones who have been successful and trust them. After all its your money, you have to decide.
I just paid and submitted to the directory last Thursday, just waiting to get in. My site is 3 Yrs old does ok in G & MSN but Y seems to hate my site. I am hoping that the directory will help my rankings in Y. I will update in a few weeks.
I don't think its insane to get your site listed in Yahoo directory for $300. Especially if the page is PR6. It's just like spending $25/month. It isn't bad considering the quality of the directory as well. Yahoo don't usually reject sites if they're quality sites. So if you have a bad site don't even bother to submit it.
I submitted and was accepted to Yahoo Dir. approx 4 weeks ago. Got no direct traffic increase and have experienced very little improvement in search rankings. Never got a definitive answer on Yahoo Dir value here, so I decided to gamble $299. So far, I'd say I lost $299....
They don't seem to be working the same way they did 4-5 months ago with the Yahoo rankings, I'm sure they will still have some impact, they have always taken a good 6-8 weeks to kick in properly with Yahoo, they are well worth it simply because they can help to build up trust with Google.
