Nobody seems to have any idea of why the yahoo directory costs $300 and benefits you gain from it. Yahoo directory is one of the most authoritative sites on the web. According to SEOmoz, here is the domain authority score for the following: 93 = http://dir.yahoo.com/ 94 = http://www.dmoz.org/ 98 = http://www.wikipedia.org/ ( no followed links) 100 = http://wordpress.org/ 92 = http://www.squidoo.com/ 88 = http://hubpages.com/ 93 = http://ezinearticles.com/ As you can see the yahoo directory is amongst the best of them, but Wikipedia and yahoo have a much higher trust rank. Wikipedia has a higher trust rank simply because they do not accept spam, and there links are no followed. Yahoo directory has a high trust rank because a spam site generally will not spend $300 on a link, and the site is highly edited for spam. http://wordpress.org/ http://www.squidoo.com/ http://hubpages.com/ http://ezinearticles.com/ These sites are all uncontrolled and are not as good as the sites that have editors. Don’t get me wrong they are still worth submitting to though. So that leaves these 3 http://dir.yahoo.com/ http://www.dmoz.org/ http://www.wikipedia.org/ ( no followed links) Wikipedia may be no follow but it’s worth having for the trust factor alone. Conclusion: Yahoo directory and DMOZ are the 2 highest authoritative and trusted sites that you should always attempt to get a link from. By gaining high authority links, you are gaining high authority to your own site. It is also assumed that yahoo directory, DMOZ, and Wikipedia are seed sites.
