It's a tough one to answer because it depends on your situation. If your web site makes a good turn-around on revenue or you have a good plan in place for it to do so in the near future, it can certainly be worth it. For example, if you sell a product on the site for $300, and you have a 1% conversion rate, you will very likely make a profit with the one year fee, considering only the traffic from Yahoo. Some also feel that a link from Yahoo has more link value than other links. So, it really depends on the site and how it is monetized.
My thoughts are if you have to ask then it probably is not. Personally - Yahoo is one of the highest authority sites there is on the net. It may be worthwhile to be listed there if you have the budget for it. Basically it comes down to your individual situation and budget.
I use it and BOTW for most of my clients that can afford it as I find a lot of value and a bit of traffic from both of those links. Good luck.
I don't totally agree that it's worth it, considering the amount of money involved. Yet, I plan to try it just for one year, to be surer of my opinion and to see if it can turn my revenue around.
I think there is no difference in traffic, cause the directory is really huge and people are using search function instead browsing the directory. The biggest benefit is a SEO boost in my opinion.
no you no need to pay, and i dont know the return after listing in yahoo, instead of that hire seo and spend some money, that useful to your site and business
any information on how GOOGLE "treats" sites in YD? or, no difference either way? THANKS. p.s. does a YD listing help with YAHOO! search results rankings?
Depends on ur site, I would say its a complete waste of money, but thats just my experiance of it Woc
I tried Yahoo Dir couple months ago for my travel related website , Results : Traffic: Very Low SERP Effect: Very Low Price/Quality : Very Very Low
It is to me, because many of the niches I work have high ranking sites that are also listed. Check out the competitors in your own niche and see who is using the Directory.
Hey Guys, I am going to ask a very interesting question. Now you all are aware that Yahoo charge some 300$ for adding links but this thing is against Google's terms since it is selling text links. So why Yahoo never got banned in terms of Page Rank? Regards, ExpertQTP quicktesthp.blogspot.com
There's nothing like being on the 15th category page. :/ Anyway, as far as Google/Yahoo Directory... The Yahoo Directory fee: a) does not guarantee a listing b) the fee is for review, not based on PR or such c) Yahoo directory accepts free listings too ...and probably other things that I am too tired to think of right now.
