Yahoo directory: worth it?

my site is already crawled by yahoo but is not listed in their directory. i tried submitting to the directory for free which, of course, never really works... anyway, has anyone had any success with their yahoo directory listing? is it worth it (given that the site is already indexed by them)?

    thanks

Many of my rival sites use the advantage of Yahoo directory and from my research I only see they rank well because they paid Yahoo for that directory. Its safe to say a directory is a major advantage although I dont find Yahoo traffic converting well for my websites so I dont put major concern but will in the future to cover all angles.

I ranked well -#1 or #2- for my primary keywords with yahoo before I paid to be in their directory.
Now I am a steady #1, but the amount of traffic I get has taken a hit, b/c your companies name is used for your sites title.

Yahoo! Directory definitely helps. Make sure that your whois info and contact us info matches with the title you submit yourself with :)

i am getting 80k+ visitiors a month from google and only about 3k from yahoo even though both of them have roughly the same number of pages indexed.

i am curious what will happen to my yahoo traffic after the site gets added to their directory.. i am guessing it's hard to say and depends on the market i am in, keywords targeted, etc. but in any case, if you guys have any input, i'd like to hear it

p.s. what other important sites/directories are powered by yahoo directory?

Your traffic will go up if your company name is one of your primary KW's.

Yahoo will choose its description of your site for you. So I added comments to the fact that I preferred a particular description. And fortunately for me they went long.

The description that you receive from them will make a huge difference in the amount of traffic. Remember, you want as many un-hyped keywords you can get in an accurate flowing sentence.

Are you referring to traffic? Do you see a lot of traffic from Yahoo's Directory?

I personally see next to none for our site because my partner wasn't aware of the criterias necessary to getting listed right when submitting. But some of our clients do get about 50-100 hits of highly targetted traffic. What matters is the business name used in the whois as well as the contact info when your site gets reviewed and how it matches up with the title you use in your submission.

The impact on search engine rankings I was referring to with "helps".

An extra push out of the sandbox. It often depends on factors such as how Google has found your site to begin with but overall Google seems to add a lot of extra weight and consideration to a site that is listed in YD from what I have seen.

It is my understanding that Yahoo runs their links through a redirect script.
