Is there any benefit in submitting to yahoo directory? I believe it costs money and is it really worth it versus natural link building? Thanks
This is now being asked almost on a weekly basis but to answer your question, do you feel that the cost for a yearly link at yahoo could be made back within the year by you having your site listed there combined with your other marketing costs? If the answer is yes, you can make back that $300 then go for it, whether it will bring traffic within that time its impossible to predict, if money is not an issue then just do it anyway. If i had $300 spare to submit to a directory id look at the type of site im submitting. Are your competitors listed there?
yes, i agree with you pipes. more than 1 month my site list in yahoo directory, and down to page 24 (Sites 461 - 480 of 494), and i have 400 competitor list in the directory. but from my analitycs view, yahoo directory is still the most referral to my site.
Yahoo is an authority right up there with dmoz. I would recommend if you have the three hundred for the yearly submit to do so. It is only paid if your website is business oriented if you own a free website then submission is free.
6868... if you dig further you will notice that most of those referrals from yahoo directory came during the first days when your listing was marked as new and was listed on top of all listings. Something not many know I think, I have said it many times here: If you cancel your listing before the renewal date, it will stay in the directory without having to pay yearly. I have done for at least 5 listings and they are still there... To answer the OP question, I believe it is worth the $300. If I had to pay yearly than that would depend on the website.
so its no need to make renewal again. even we cancel the listing, the link of the web will still remain? wow, its a great info.
IMHO, if your marketing budget is in the $100's, it not worth it; if your marketing budget is in the $1000's, then its worth it.
