Have some webmaster friends moving their links to the yahoo directory, don't really know if it's worth the price or not, So I'm asking those who're listed for some time: Does Yahoo Dir Help SEO ?
Depends on your website and depends on what your looking to get out of it from my experience. I would suggest that if you don't really care too much if they do get accepted or not, then just add them and do it the free way. That way you might be surprised. If not, then put your best foot forward if your going to throw down some money.
Obviously worth it. Very few directories are worth for submission, like yahoo, business.com, dmoz, and a few others.
i think both business.com and yahoo directory have lost it so instead of paying so much just for the yahoo link invest is in other sources.
Every little bit helps in SEO. It is the combination of all that google looks at. Also if you happen to be unlucky enough to be deindexed from google, at least you will have yahoo and the directory will definitely help there. Cindy
I am not 100% sure about this, but I was told: when you pay for a listing in Yahoo Directory, the title of your listing has to be your actual company name... so unless you have keywords in your company name, this may not be the ideal scenario. PLUS... once you do that, your search listings in Yahoo may also change to use the title from the directory, thus removing keywords from your Yahoo SERPs. I have never used the Yahoo Directory before, but have been considering it for one of my sites, so I've been looking into it a lot. Most people still feel it's very helpful and worth the price.
directories have lost their power, so i don't think it worth it's money. you can invest in other linking ideas and get more backlinks and traffic.
Yes, the price is a bit high..that's for sure, but considering the fact that yahoo backlink quality will be appreciated higher than any directory - especially when there's a high probability (from my experience) that the directory will loose in ranking with every season; So I guess Yahoo fits better if your website is nice.
I'd say if your niche is super competitive, then you're gonna need every edge you can get your hands on. But in a less cut throat niche, it might not be worth your time or money, you can get ahead using other means. I say this from experience. I am working on a site in a tiny niche, and my DMOZ listing has not helped one bit. It's been one month and no SEO tool is even counting my DMOZ backlink!
maybe it will on the next update, plus it ads some price when selling the business ... unfortunately my DMOZ listing is "Waiting Approval"
