Still a newbie here. I recently bought an expiring domain because it already had some backlinks including 5 entries in the Yahoo Directory that are super relevant to my niche. My understanding is that an entry in the Yahoo Directory is $300 a year. Is this right? The domain name I purchased has 11 years age, and I believe that sites entered before 2001 or so are grandfathered in. What benefits are there to being in the directory? As far as traffic is concerned, I can see that it is not driving that much traffic. So what is the value of being in there? Does it help give my site authority and make other SEO easier? Why would someone pay $300 a year? Anyway, I want to put some Clickbank links on my site, but I don't want to risk losing my entries. Right now, I just have some links to another related website of mine. By putting Clickbank links on the site, is it possible that I get removed from the Yahoo Directory?
Let me know your site URL to check further. It all boils down to how much you get in return for your investment.
yes Yahoo Directory is very Costly. and i don't thinks that it's worth our Money as well. because in $299 we can build so many high quality links for our sites. and if you are going to put Clickbank links on the site their no possibilities that you should get removed from the Yahoo Directory. so you can put Click bank links on your sites.
I disagree. Maybe for a part time/hobby business, but if you are doing this full time, then its not really that expensive, and I personally think there are still plenty of benefits of being in the the Yahoo Directory. Ever since we listed we saw a large increase in yahoo traffic, which included conversions, plus the google god still sees the yahoo directory as a trusted resource. Especially useful if your struggling to wake up the DMOZ editors
