Yahoo Directory Subcategory has very low pagerank

    Hi.

I was thinking of paying to have my site listed in the Yahoo directory which has a very high pagerank.

I checked the pagerank for the subcategory that is most fitting for my website, and it is listed as zero!

Will this still be a useful link? I don't understand completely how it could be a good link if it has a zero pagerank.

    Thanks in advance.

Yahoo dir is well worth getting listed at. Google PR is based on URLs that Google crawled. It could be that Google simply decides to ignore that particular Yahoo URL, therefore it has PR0. And that shouldnt matter to you, as Yahoo will pay you back with hundreds if not thousands daily visitors.
    Go for it buddy ;)

Free? Forget it man. If your page is junk (not that I mean it), then not even money will get you listed there. For this task you have to prepare your page to be useful, put a big Yahoo recip there, no Google links/adsense, let other people here review it, and then pay Yahoo.

A site with adsense has a bad chance of being listed even with paid submission?

...also...pagerank of yahoo directory subcategory doesnt matter?? It's the link itself from yahoo that counts?

What matters to Google is the trust of the website, not the pagerank of where your page is (IMHO). So, yes, it's a worthwhile investment.

All of the sites I've submitted with AdSense ads were accepted, both paid and free submissions.

Yahoo is one of the better directories for establishing trust.

I would, as its a fair price to pay for a link back. You have to imagine that anything to do with yahoo or google (dmoz) will have only positve results.

I may opt to do the same after the new year depending on PR update :p

I would think that yahoo has had a field day making money as the only other alternative since (dmoz) is dead at this moment for submittions.

    thx

It is definitely worth it! If you are that obsessed about PR it will definitely have PR soon. As far as the traffic is concerned, don't expect the thousands or even the hundreds as mentioned above, it does help in in ranking in yahoo as much as it helps in google, no special favors.
