Hello, I am looking to apply for Yahoo! Directory $299 submission with a credit card number that would be randomly generated by my bank. It would be valid only for three days. So, if I pay the initial amount by that virtual card number, would I be able to change the card details a couple of days before the next $299 charge at the start of next year? I mean, is there an option in any control panel that you would get once you get listed? I read somewhere that Yahoo! would automatically delete your listing when the credit card becomes useless. This gives me more fear. Kindly clarify. Regards, Stan.
well you can request them to add the listing again. nothing to fear about, after all you are paying for its worth, also there are lot of alternatives now a days try avivadirectiry , alivedirectory, elegantdirectory, linksjuice and more . also jus ask yahoo support if you can pay them for 2 yrs together if you are so curious with the listing.
You will get an email saying they were unable to process the charge etc and so on. Then you just change the billing information on file...speaking from a recent experience....
I have it listed in a lot of other directories. Just wanted to get Yahoo too. Thanks. ROAR, with the email do they give a time frame saying they would delete your listing if you do not pay in this much time or something like that? Or do they delete it before they send you the mail? How do you change the billing information on file? Thanks, Stan.
Stanley, I got an email saying that I had X days to change my card info. I think it was roughly 45-60- so its not a super rush. When you apply...you need to give a certain amount of info. They sent me a link(?) or something idiot proof to get it done.
ROAR, I would be having a little trouble correlating both since I would be using a card which would be valid for like 3 days. Did they send you the mail around the time of the expiry date of the card you initially registered or around the time of renewal or just after they tried charging the renewal fee and it did not happen. Thanks, Stan.
Yes, they won't charge you again! I had submitted several sites already and haven't paid more then 1 time
skionxb, Which Yahoo directory did you submit to? The main one or something like Asia or something? Thanks, Stan.
Stanley, the billing cycle is 365 days. So I was contacted roughly at day 366 of being in the directory. Submitted to main (US) - was given two links there and then also one in Canada, UK& Ireland, Oz, Asia, et al. A thing to really consider is that is you are ranking well in yahoo for your keyterms...the rankings wont change but suddenly your page title will be the company name. My traffic dropped from yahoo a lot as a result- now it is non-existant...but at the same time google has increased by 1000% in the past 3 years.
Thanks ROAR for the clearing that up, and for the heads up. So, once you get such a mail, you need to mail them the new credit card details or do you go online to a space dedicated to you at the Yahoo! like a control panel and then change the card details? Did they charge you as soon as you updated the card? I am asking this since my new card would be valid for like 3 days. I guess I will put my company name as my desired title only then. Thanks again, Stanley Lyndon.
Stanley, its in the control panel where you enter the updated billing information. Re: the time it takes for them to charge the card, I am not really sure. Like most businesses, it would make sense for yahoo to try to collect their funds ASAP...so 3 days should PROBABLY be adequate.
So, once you pay the first time, they will give you a login page similar to, say, PayPal.com? Thanks, Stanley Lyndon.
I think in order to sign up --you need to create an account w. them....(a free email address). Not sure, I have had a freebie email w. them forever.
Pay only one time....they will never remove you. My site is there for three years. I just paid one time
