Yahoo Directory Question

I'm trying to top the SERP's with a keyword phrase that has around 500+ daily searches. It also has its own category in Yahoo Directory.

In G I'm around 10 and Y I'm around 14. Should I invest the $300 to get maybe a few more spots or just continuing buying more relevant backlinks.

    Thanks!

I would save your money and buy relevant links. It's alot more cost effective.

If you are already on 14 on yahoo then you should go for buying relavant links.
So that it can help you to go up in Google and Yahoo Both.

Chris, I'm interested in reading the various answers to your question. Like you, I'm not in the Yahoo! directory. I have one keyword phrase at #5 in Google that (according to Overture/Wordtracker) gets about 500 daily searches on the internet. I have another keyword phrase currently at #10 in Google that gets over 4,000 daily searches on the internet.

I've gotten these two keyword phrases to that point basically via on-page optimization (keywords, proper on-page placement, etc.) and off-page SEO (primarily directory submissions to build links, using these phrases as the anchor text).

While I'm satisfied with those results, you've made me curious to see how others' experience relates to this, and whether it would be worth the $300 to submit to the Yahoo! directory. As a nonprofit, I've tried time and again to get in via the free, noncommercial route, but with no success to date.

The first choice shall be DMOZ, because it was used by almost all the major search engines; my second choice will be yahoo directory, if I have the money. Last choice will be those free directories, no matter its pr higher or lower.
