I have a content rich site that gets about 350 uniques a day from Google and about 10 from yahoo. Should adding my site to the Yahoo Directory for $299/year significantly increase my daily hits from Yahoo? I currently make about $300 a month from the site and I am just wondering if it would be worth the investment.
I am also wondering if adding my site to the Yahoo! directory is worth it in general (link building, traffic, seo, etc)?
not at all buddy instead of paying there you can advertise on 20sites for a month that also banner ads
For some people it does work, for some not. It probably depends on your niche.... I would not pay $300 to be included in very busy category, for example, ecom, hosting, domains..... ....
For me - my site - it's not worth the money. On the other hand, yahoo-links certainly count as trusted links in google, so in some well-paying niches it would probably be worth it.
I submitted a new website of mine (but really new), i havent seen any changes yet, but maybe soon i will. who knows
I would agree with lkj too, if the niche is too busy/competitive, 299 is not worth the inclusion, morever, the 299 doesn't even guarantee an inclusion as far as i'm concerned.
It is worth it for a lot of sites. Make sure you think of a good title though as Yahoo use it in the serps.
yeh, well i submitted mine, and luckily enough they changed category and title otherwise i would have been $299 lower for nothing, but i think they are half decent with submissions as in they'd change listing when necessary
Last summer I canceled a directory listing for one of my sites that had been listed with Yahoo for several years. Search rankings in Yahoo went up slightly for my main keywords. Go figure! From my experience Yahoo directory traffic isn't worth $299! However the link probably helps some with your Google rankings?
I have submitted two sites in Yahoo, and both with a card that is expired now. They never removed the listing. So, the way I figure it, it is $299 for a lifetime listing - or until they do a cleanup (it has been years now).
My understanding is that websites submitted before a certain date are not removed. However the listing I canceled in August was removed a couple weeks ago. Buying domains that are about to expire appear to remain listed if they were submitted some years ago. Probably a good idea to add content similar to the original website though just in case Yahoo reviews them.
it is worth it. even though the clicks trickle in they add up. Eventually the cost per vistor wounds up being decent for our sites about 10 cents per vistor for the year. factor in the added link popularity and how bad it looks to not be listed if anyone ever does look and in my eyes it is a no brainer!
I dont prefer the Yahoo! because it's very expensive and you cannot see changes in a short time. And for SERP , 1 year is very short time range.
I am new to this business so I won't invest 299$ for getting my site listed in yahoo. Other than I will build by traffic slowly
not really, i would rather spend in alive aviva and directories here , would be more valuable then $299 for 1 listing in yahoo but in case u have big budget then sure don't miss out anything, go for yahoo
I think listing in Yahoo directory is important for good traffic in long term since it has lot of visitors and those may visit your site too.
