Yahoo recently came out and stated that they have devalued footer links on the grounds that if the webmaster doesn't want to show the link prominently, then there is no reason that they should take the link into account. However, I have seen countless sites ranked top 3 in Yahoo who I know to only use the DP co-op network for SEO - footer links only. Maybe they're not telling it to us straight.
