yahoo counting backlinks from a nofollow blog

i have a website and i placed some comments under a high PR5 page blogs with my website name ;where now yahoo has counted as backlinks from that blog pages but the main thing is that when i view the page source it shows that the link name along with "nofollow" tag added to it
but it is still has counted as backlink from that page under yahoo (where we search for backlinks as link:...)

the main thing is even getting links from high keywords yahoo still doesn't show my website for my targetted keyword under its any results (not even in the top 600)

is it all due to less backlinks and links from a nofollow blog

    please tell me your thoughts!!

Yes, not many links and nofollow links is the exact reason.
you need more links, and ones that are dofollow (What is dofollow?)

Yahoo will still show the links, even if they are nofollow... I wrote a post about "How to check your site's backlinks" ... some of them will show you which links are nofollow and which ones aren't.

so it means that yahoo has counted them as backlinks but it is not helping in inreasing the position of website in serps

Do follow links were invented by Google, Yahoo still thinks a link is a link, don't focus too much on Google, Yahoo and MSN can also get you good traffic.

Yahoo always supports nofollow links, no any more question may take place for this again.

BUT the main thing is even after getting links from high PR pages when searched in yahoo for the keyword (my page has) yahoo still doesn't show my website for my targetted keyword under its any results (not even in the top 600)

though the keyword doesn't have any high competitors

as other have noted, nofollow links don't matter to yahoo. even nofollowed links show up in my google webmaster account.

nofollow links don't pass pr juice in google, that is all. they are still counted as a link everywhere else - including google. the anchor text of the nofollow link will also help you rank for those keywords in google.

so overall it would really help increasing my serp position in yahoo then id not in google for instance but why is my website not showing for my targetted keyword ?

if nofollow is liked by yahoo (it ignores it) then why my website is not there though the links have come from a PR5 page!!

In the end. Nofollow and Dofollow links are still just links. Just because a link is a nofollow link doesn't mean its not a link. When you check the links in yahoo, of course it will show the links you have pointing to your site.

In addition to any serps, nofollow may still send traffic to your site, by people clicking on them.

    i second the motion!
    links are still links!

Put simply, the more links to your web site => the more “votes” your web sites has => the more popular your web site => the higher your search engine rankings.

That is strange. Perhaps your search term is very competitive or you have lack of other SEO factors on the page

You must have othert problems. As you can see mentioned by others also that Yahoo counts nofollows. You must have good competition or lacking in other SEO ways. Also if you have only 1 link which is pr5 you will never rank well.

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY PR IS FOR GOOGLE NOT YAHOO

so if a backlink has come from a dofollow blog comments page having a PR7 would that take my ranking position to no. 1-3 if instance my targetted keyword has not many competitors
