Yahoo - bulk issue - very important

I have posted this in the past in DP and I didn't get any valuable reply yet.

I run a social networking site, I have coded with my team, it runs nicely, alot of users registered and traffic is doing damn good.. but..

I'm having some issues with Yahoo, everytime a new user registers, he recieves a verification email. Sometimes it's in INBOX, sometimes in bulk, or even not sent at all.. (*shrugs*)

Any ideea how I can possibly send mail only in INBOX? Like hi5.com or myspace.com for example?

    I have same issue.
Not strictly yahoo related (it happens with hotmail as well)
I had to put a big warning on the registering page asking users to check the bulk e-mail as well, but still I see a dozen of pending membership everyday
Probably some of them are nasty little spammers with automatic programs but still is frustrating.

I do the same, I made users "Please check your bulk", but registers are going down lately, since most are in bulk nowdays.. wonder why and how to get rid of this problem..

It has something to do with Yahoo's spam guard...you just have to report this kind of issue that your emails must not be treated as a spam. But knowing yahoo, this usually takes a lifetime or half of it...lol

This is what i know. If youre using a free email account, yahoo spam guard filters what goes to the inbox and what goes directly to the bulk - spam guard averages the reports of the free mail users as this is spam and this is not. Lets say on 5 reports of users - 2 reported that your email (subject, content, or email address) is not a spam and 3 reported that it is a spam - spam guard will still treats it as a spam - according to yahoo, reporting emails to be spam (or not spam) "trains" spam guard to filter more accurately.

What you can do (aside from directly reporting this to yahoo. while waiting for their action) continuously report those emails coming from you that it is not a spam - that way, spam guard can overrule those reports that your email is a spam.

Well thats the case for free email users, for premium users, they have priviledge to filter it per user report basis.

I was using mail(); and it's using sendmail, instead I'll try to use Google's SMTP, might work.
