Like most online communities, if you take the time to actually participate and provide people with useful information, they will want to find out more about you (which means visiting your site). However, if you simply try to spam Yahoo Answers, I don't see that as a very effective strategy.
It depends but I have constantly gotten a steady flow of traffic from my use of yahoo answers. This may not be the case for everyone but if you can leaves links there that stay there and if your answers get picked as the best, then you can get a nice long term source of traffic.
I agree with all the above. Takes time and effort but as with most things in life quality usually rises to the top. Just look at Man United compared to liverpool!
You can read the post I just made here: forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1059471 It is definitely worth it. Keywords in those question titles are indexed and in Google within a few hours. If you make best answer you are at the top of the answers with your link for all to visit. If you are chosen by the asker it is even better. So take the time to make detailed, thoughtful answers. Good luck!
We'll like everything else, it has its phases. When it first stared it was the hottest thing, then it probably faded. Plus, you have to be careful with the links you use as resources. They should be valid.
I wouldn't say so... For 2 weeks for every day posting (15 minutes) I got my 11 answers nominated as "best"
