Ever thought of a simple 301 redirect or something like that? I'm sure it wouldn't be that much of a problem to redirect... Also, I highly doubt Yahoo will sell it. It would be a very silly move for them - Their Search Engine is dying off already, so selling one of the most popular sections of the site would mean even less visitors for them...
301 Redirect for what? Actually, selling is what would keep them afloat (and their investors happier), because otherwise all they're going to do is dwindle.
This is a rumor, why yahoo will sell its Yahoo answers to answer.com. i don't think yahoo will do it ever.
i dont think so.. y wud they sell yahoo answers which is so profitable for them and they are dominating in that niche... (atleast i hope they dont get overtaken by Google answers!)
Good point, but I'm sure this must factor into the deal, if the cost is still high there must be some work around.
With that in mind, it could simply be just a corporate generated rumor as a POWER play, either way, 'something' can surely be gained from the acquisition of answers
I think they won't sell it. But I'm not sure what they'll do if they get 100 millions for this domain.
this rumor i heard was fake, and seen as a way to boost yahoo's stocks correct me if i am wrong 0o but thats what i heard (Basically a rumor about a rumor lol)
Haha, All they would do is sell the general script, and redirect. It probably wouldn't actually be that bad, they could always just open another "answers" service after selling that one...
In my opinion Yahoo Answers is complete garbage. You have a few experts on there and then thousands of idiots. All of them are competing for points by answering every possible question. So half of the questions are answered by people who have no clue. People can't even add their opinions to existing questions because most good ones are already closed. I could see Yahoo selling this just to save on some employee expenses that it takes to run yahoo answers. They were close enough to selling everything to MicroSoft. So it would make sense to at least sell something. That way they can slim down their operations and raise profitably.
If funny how just two days ago Yahoo sent me an email with a link for a survey. The survey had about five questions to the tone of: how much do I like Yahoo Answers 1- 10: Would I refer a friend to Yahoo Answers 1-10: If Yahoo Answers wasn't available how disappointed would I be 1- 10. I don't think they are selling it, but it sure sounds like they where debating it.
