Yahoo answer is not do-follow but a kind of strategy is to work on that yahoo answer page to be on top of SERP, then that would bring traffic to your site.
Actually, yahoo answer give you good traffic but be careful with submitting links unreasonable, you can be banned.

The trick is to post your link only in areas where it is relevant and normally as a source. Also dont post spam for the sake of it and answer questions you actually know something about.
yahoo answer is one of the best source but unfortunately there are too many spammer now Many of them are reporting their competitor, i have been suspected for more than 5 times, luckily i get back my account after appeal. However, it is tiring to do keep appeal

Yes, I am totally agree with you(swiftcolour). User should concentrate on posting only quality answers to questions. So don't make haste build your(swiftcolour) reputation by posting quality content and last but not least consider on your point table while posting questions or answers on yahoo answers.
As long as you get best answers and nobody says you're spamming you will be fine. I posted some the same way and it has helped minimally.
a good tactic is to set up a saved search with your keywords. Then whenever someone asks a question related to your topic, you'll get an email from Yahoo answers and can quickly jump in with an answer and plug where appropriate
