I love answering questions on YA because I like helping people, plus I can find very specific sub niche questions to my own niche. This allows me to be an expert, and almost always have my answer chosen as the best - plus I can link to one of my sites with a very relevant anchor. but here's some things that I'm wondering about. 1. I wonder if google sees the relationship between the topic of a question, and the link to my site. 2. I also wonder how long the yahoo questions/answers stay indexed before yahoo does a possible "cleansing" - you can backtrack for up 2 years I think, but I wonder what happens after that. 3. For me this also relates to twitter links - do any of these things ever go stale? like should they show up in search results for indefinite amounts of time? 4. Then there's the question of piggy backing off of yahoo's PR - or even if it applies with Yahoo Answers. It should, but I'm not sure - I don't always trust these things. Any thoughts on this?
Any link that counts must be permenant. That means not moved. It must be indexed. I use the Webmaster Tools test. If it shows up in the External Link section of WMT, then it is good. If not, stop waisting your time. Then the question will be, will it be there in 6 months, 12 months, etc. As for twitter, the tests are underway and is not looking positive.
Chemy, I don't personally have the answers. But, like you, I'm pretty active on Yahoo Answers. I do find tons of YA links showing up in my Google Webmaster Tools. I hope someone(s) knowledgeable on your questions can give some input.
Speaking of which, and this is a stupid question (I'm sure the answer is obvious) - is there a quick way to check a site for dofollow? l've got the SEOBOOK tool bar, and its awesome, but there is a lot to it - I'm sure there's something their. Anybody know?
Yahoo answer is nofollow link, it wouldnt helps you on google search and it wouldnt give you PR juice. Regarding the database, Yahoo answer will never delete the old post, their space is big enough to store all the Q&A. Only those post against rules will be deleted
The link from Yahoo Answer is no follow but still its a link from Yahoo which has its own value. Moreover the No follow tag is just for stopping Google PageRank flow but not ranking or indexing. Use the service wisely and you will be amazed with the results.
You can download Search Status Adds on.. This tool will automatically highlight those links that have nofollow value...
