I was submitting my daily Yahoo! Answers yesterday and got an "error 999" everytime I tried to submit my answers. After researching this for literally 3 hours, I discovered that for whatever reason, Yahoo! has banned my IP address and there's nothing I can do about it. From what I've read, this may be termporary and it may be permanent. So far I've been "banned" for 24 hours and counting. I've tried every work around in the book based on my research - clearing cache, temp internet files, cookies, registry, etc. etc. I've also tried various ip cloakers and using other browsers. It will not let me submit answers anymore, which really sucks because I was getting tons of traffic and sales from Yahoo! Answers. What doesn't make sense is that my usage of Yahoo!'s services is very low. I check my Yahoo! emails a few times a day and I only submit 1-2 answers per day at Yahoo! Answers. How could they possibly say that I'm using their services too much (which I've read is why my IP is being blocked). And why has it been blocked for 24 hours and counting??? P.S. Death to Yahoo! The company sucks and their "support" is completely worthless. Travis
It may be another problem, if even IP cloaking services didn't work. I would suggest you wait a week and try again, odds are you aren't banned.
error 999 doesnt mean they banned you it just means there is a problem with your ISP. it is temporary. If you check back tomorow it should fine.
If your including links in the posts they ban the domain for a period of time, use a different domain or a short url service like tinyurl, the 999 will go away
Are you referring to links in the actual answer or in the resource box? I always put links in the resource box but never in the actual answer itself. I'm still being locked out and it's been 2 days now. I don't know what's going on but at this point I'm passed being angry and I'm just moving on... Travis
Hi, I don't think you are using their service too much, is that a crime?? I participate in the answers pages and am always encouraged BY YAHOO to GO AGAIN, if they don't want you to make a bunch of answers, then they wouldn't tell you to keep going, would they? I've posted helpful links in the answers as well as in the resource box. Haven't had any problems with that.... yet. I would like to let you know that I had a horrible time on Yahoo the other day trying to get my email and trying to get ANY page to load from their home page. I do not recall the error message, just the page cant be displayed routine. I was slightly upset by this as I really needed to get to my yahoo mail! And just a week prior I was running my mouth about how I hated all the errors I was recently getting from Hotmail, and I was bragging that YAHOO, in nearly ten years, had never failed me. Oh the irony. JINX. I have my domain mail forwarded to my Yahoo mail, I'm addicted to Yahoo mail. I love getting on a roll with the yahoo answers sometimes and reading all the questions REAL people pose at the site. Fun time waster? I like it.
i had the same problem with del.icio.us but that's because i was actually surfing to fast through their pages and it's the same yahoo error you got. i found that i just waited for a bit and it all works fine again. a temporary thing
I got it once when trying to submit to multiple Yahoo regional directories in quick succession. It went away after a few hours. I assume it is to prevent people overloading their submission forms.

I had this problem one time with Yahoo search marketing - I was inserting ~50,000 keywords into a campaign and after about 25,000 I got cut off... worked out for the best as it was like 3 AM at that time. The next morning I restarted my router and got the remaining 25k inserted.
Hi Mate, I have a worst disaster with yahoo, they deactivated my yahoo a/c due to yahoo answer Appeal many time but they said i abuse thier TOS. My 15 years contact and important data gone for ever. What a disaster to my yahoo a/c. And this is another joke is that i was awarded many times the best answer for the participation. And now end up i was banned and whole account gone for ever, no consideration at all.... Becareful if you think of the participation..... I have enough of all these....move myslf to another search portal..... take care
Yes I guess if you are reported for abuse 4 times in a day your yahoo account is deleted automatically. Many people are using this tactics to get accounts of other people removed simply because they do not like them EDIT: Can few people try testing yahoo's algoritm by putting link to yahoo.com in all the source of their answer it would be interesting to see whether yahoo bans itself
i also got error 999 and research on it what happen with my Yahoo answer... i guess yahoo error 999 means "Oops! Something went wrong but we don't know what, so we'll just say that Error 999 occurred."
