Yahoo Answers generate excellent organic traffic.... and is highly recommended for building good quality visitors.... Yahoo probably made the links no-follow to prevent spammers from posting, just to reap SEO benefits and degrade the content quality. Regards, RightMan
I'm wondering though if Yahoo might give any weight though considering it's their site? I definitly don't want my Yahoo account banned as some have mentioned though.
Yahoo answers Gives you points for each answer, and more points if your answer is selcted as a "best answer" by people and the OP. So More points means your status and level will increase, and they rank you on the base of your points [Level 1,2,3,4,5 on so on...] So its simple, if you are a higher level user, they will give you more importance and people start having faith in your answers and source links, and that means more traffic. Its too much time consuming, and you never know when they gonna ban you, even if you are a level 5 user or even more. I hope that will help you out understanding yahoo answers better.
its real good for getting direct traffic and visitors to your site...but you hve to be very careful while answering..
By Proxy I meant users coming to your site via Yahoo Answers rather than direct via a SE. I actually stopped using Yahoo Answers many months ago but looking at some stats for one site, saw I still get about 11k traffic/month even now for that one site. Stats can be seen at http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=10967268&postcount=2
It can result in more exposure and possibly some traffic, but there is no benefit to backlinks or SEO.
There are no benefit in terms of SEO at all. Like others said, it's only good for direct and targetted traffic. They used to rank high on Google but I guess not anymore. What's YMMV? In short, you can vote for best answers, including your own answers.
I have got some traffic from Yahoo Answers to my sites. I have used the advanced search there to prepare the basis for articles since we can know what people generally trying to know or seek answers.
