From my analysis over a few days is that Yahoo has dropped blogspot subdomains in rankings, and YPN is showing low paying ads for does who have pages in blogspot. This all happen in the last Yahoo update. I think this is just wrong, they shouldn't do that. Has any of you who have blogspot pages, have lower earnings now with YPN?

This is not surprising to me. The folks @ Google have been taking serious action against all the splogs in the blogspot domain. It should be expected that Y! would take similar action, because they know that splogs offer no real value to anyone.

One thing about spammers is almost always true: they never want to pay for anything. If you have a blogspot blog, u should move it to your own domain name ASAP, IMO. The transfer is quite simple and worth the effort.

Yes i have blogspot blog and they are top quality with good content and receive tons of traffic. I agree with you that there are splongs out there, but there are also lots of blogspot blogs that are top quality and Yahoo should understand that. For example look at this blog labnol.blogspot.com I think this is not right, and they should think about this again. There are millions of splongs with there own domain, so having a blogspot doesn't mean they are taking there splong problem away.

I have a question, if i move to my own domain, does this mean i loose all my traffic, rankings, and PageRank?

this is disappointing. just because google is not able to take care of all those spammers that doesn't mean that they should start penalizing whole blogspot.

I believe you. Looks like have a great blog there, with nice content (assuming that the content is original and written by you.)

But the sploggers are ruining things for everyone. Y! and G want to deliver the best content to the folks who search the web from their sites, and since free blogs are typically sploggy, the major players are probably going to favor sites that are hosted on bought domain names.

Same goes for the ads. The advertisers are their #1 priority, and since free blogs are often splogalicious, the major contextual advertising players are going to skew the payouts for clicks on free blogs accordingly. Bottom line: advertisers are tired of paying top dollar for clicks that don't convert.

Free blogs are great for certain situations. But if you want to make your living online, and you want the advertisers to take your site seriously, better get you own domain name(s).

    As always, IMO.
