Yahoo and Reciprocal Links.

Does yahoo remove sites that have reciprocal links? I just read something in the policy guidelines that goes like this..

"Listed below are some of the more common examples of how a site may violate these guidelines:

    - Cloaking (showing crawlers deceptive content about a site)
    - Massive domain interlinking
    - Use of affiliate programs without the addition of substantial unique content
    - Use of reciprocal link programs (aka "link farms")
    - Hidden text
    - Excessive keyword repetition.... "

    Any ideas?

There's a difference between having some recip' links and link farms.

don't worry if they would actually throw out every site that has a reciprocal link the opening page of Y would probably read: 12 bilion pages concidered but only 10.000 indexed - therfore no relevant results available....

serious: if a site has 100 pages and 10.000 links I would probably concider this as undesirable.... (or link farming)

    Cheers

Well the thing is that the quote above is from the reply they gave me for why a site that I recently began working with, has been de-indexed by Yahoo. The only thing I could see that might be the reason is the reciprocal links.

    that's a first level boilerplate response -

there are many other reasons - copyright infringements - trade mark and patent infringements - brand name complaints - to name a few....

If it was a sudden de-index with no similar movement on G or M it is likely that a competitor filed a complaint - Y is known for reacting without due care or due dilligence on such....

Keep probing, remain friendly etc etc etc

PS check the reciprocals but if they look OK it certainly wasen't that one.

I am guessing a competitor had something to do with it. Anyway I am getting payed to get it back in so I need to try something. I will remove the links if thats what it is going to take.

Use of reciprocal link programs (aka "link farms") - hmmm, this is very contradictive writing but there's a big difference between a link farm and a reciprocal link exchange program.

I don't think yahoo will penalize you as long as you keep a healthy amount of outbound (25 max per page) links to quality websites.

Well if yahoo starts doing that it will be like they will kill themselves. However as explained by others as well that there is difference between link farms and resciprocal linking, but i wonder even if it is so have yahoo penalized any site till yet?
