Has anyone else noticed that Yahoo seems to be placing more importance on newer sites and domain name relevance just like what MSN/Live used to do? I have some sites that are in very competitive markets that are brand new that are doing very well on Yahoo right out of the box. I have also noticed that Bing results are showing more or my older sites but the newer sites that are doing well in Yahoo, that I would have expected to do well in Bing, are nowhere to be found. It seems like Yahoo is running the old Live algo since their "partnership" has anyone else experienced this same thing or am I smoking crack?
I am thinking the same. I wonder why Bing is always better and better plus advanced over Yahoo when the time passed. This just happens after they both have been merged, aka "Take Over". Yahoo was much better over MSN but now worse than Bing. I wonder if Yahoo can even compared to new Entireweb or Ask anyway.
Glad other people are noticing it too. I am not really sure what the end game is for Yahoo to allow Bing to take over their search criteria when Bing/Live search had much lower traffic and ad revenue than Yahoo did. It doesn't make much sense to me to see the way things are going but I will say that I do like the new Bing Serps much better than Yahoos! Now if I can only get all of my traffic back!!!!
I couldn't agree more... I got a new website with keywords in the domain and straight away got to the first page in yahoo, but nowhere in google and bing. As for the older sites it's the other way around. It makes me wonder if Microsoft are doing it on purpose to pursuade people to use bing? I don't personally use bing as I, most of the time, still use Yahoo and when I can't get what I want I go to Google, thus Bing is the last SE for me. But I can't wait till yahoo will have Bing's algo for their searches.
The problem with Yahoo is that they did nothing and just watched as Google became the top search engine. You may not find anything special about the Yahoo search algo that differs from the year 2000.
It's because Bing realizes to have an effective SE you have to count more than just the On Page elements when ranking. Yahoo puts too much emphasis on a Yahoo directory listing, dmoz listing, there buzz program, answers, and domain rich keywords. As we see with Google, Bing is going to count popularity (which are back links) to help decide what is the most popular and relevant based on quantity and quality of backlinks mixed with meta information.
Mmhhh... I think it's because they have their own major player in region. In Japan i heard people still prefer with yahoo rather with google. CMIIW.
