Yahoo almost as big as Google?

There is definitely a consensus that google is the MAJOR search engine.

Thats the big reason that when you think about search engines, you immediately base the thought or question and how it relates to google. Why some people get MUCH larger views from yahoo, Im not sure though.

 

according to unofficial firefox stats google is controlling nearly 90% of all searches and rest 10% are divided in to mainly yahoo, bing and others.

 

This is not true!

 

Google is King for bringing Trafic for any websites.
Because google cache fastly all the new websites as compare to yahoo and bing.

 

Not sure what market stats are discussed here but the somewhat 'official' government #s are: ~ G 65%/Y 25%/Bing 10%

 

It depends on what your geographical market is, as the spreads are different. see here for an idea of Google's share, which ranges from 98 to ... 3 (though I'm dubious as to that one, but you get the idea) or here for a better visual of how it can vary from country to country. Yahoo maintains a strong foothold in markets it developed early on (don't forget the Internet ain't that old as a consumer "thing"), like the US and Australia. It's very poor in one's it ignored until much later in the game, or handled badly (much of eastern Europe and China, for example), but that doesn't necessarily mean that Google gets the share that Yahoo doesn't.

As for getting in good with Yahoo, that's been discussed elsewhere ...

 

No, you got a rong information of this, yahoo can't cover up google, because yahoo is usefull for only mailing and google is the best search engine.

 

In addition, Google is the main source of in-page search engines. Almost every company and person turns to Google, whether the percentages show it or not. I really do not believe what you read, though.

 

Some sites do better in Yahoo as they get more traffic from Y. Google for the majority of sites is THE main SE focus.

 

Is the share of Bing increasing?...It seems like it is gaining more influence in the market.

Sorry, but here in belgium almost everybody uses google. Somtimes bing because they don't know how to get google back

sorry but i am yahoo fan and no doubt yahoo will be world's no 1 search engine. Yahoo start to move on this way. Yahoo and MSN shake hands for doing this operation. World's knows MSN and yahoo are most dangerous if they works togather. What you think about that .

 

Yahoo has a big market in some "niche". This user based of those 2, Google and Yahoo, are completely different. These niches could be match for Yahoo market

1. LCD TV / Plasma TV / PSP / Playstation / Sony / Blu-Ray
2. Organic foods / Supplement
3. Most kind of shopping keywords, especially Japanese products.

The biggest search engine preferred by Japanese is not Google but it is Yahoo. That's why Google push very hard in Japan.

 

Did you guys see that Facebook has taken over Google for the most visitor traffic on internet. Kind of surprising, but maybe this is the future of marketing
