Yahoo almost as big as Google?

Discussion in 'Yahoo' started by tintumon, Feb 27, 2010.

From my site referers, I always thought that yahoo was much smaller in the search field. I'd get 90% of my search traffic from google, 5% from MSN and 4% from Yahoo.

I was just reading today that Yahoo has 31% of the search Market, and Google has 36%... So, clearly, Yahoo is bringing somone a lot of traffic... and it should be almost as much as Google.

So the question is, do other people see results like this? I've already looked at Yahoo specific optimizations and have incorporated them long ago. What is the big differentiator in getting good results in Yahoo?

What???? Where did you read that? Yahoo's internal newsletter. I think they are trying to motivate their employess..
I get a lot of more traffic from Google, maybe 20 times more than yahoo. Do not get me wrong I like Yahoo and I would like them to get a bigger market share but it is not happening in the near future.

Is not about Google or Yahoo's size but the fact that Yahoo crawlers visit some sites more often and perform deep crawling, hence they spend more time on-site than Googlebot.

this thread is total bollocks - google have 91% of the European search market, and 79% of the US Market.

they have lost 2% in the last year in the US, due to aggressive marketing in the states of BING.

I get maybe 10% traffic to some of my blogs from Google, and about 40-50% from Yahoo. (thousands of u/v's). I never get any from Bing though, at all, even though I have thousands of pages indexed, and rank well for a bunch of keywords, with a bunch of websites. Wonder why lol.

i don't think so. Google is far ahead than Yahoo or Bing. I get 80% of the Search traffic on my website from Google, although my site rank almost on all major keyword in Yahoo as well.

Yahoo and Google focus on different types of sites. People who like Google do not usually like Yahoo.
    It's like Coke and Pepsi

I initially thought OP was trying to pull a fast one! How else could one explain Yahoo to be getting as big as google?!

Google is way ahead of its rivals and even though both Yahoo and MS have joined hands, they are not likely to pose any meaningful threat to big G's leadership!

    Regards,
