Yahoo 1.99 Domains Ripoff?

Discussion in 'Domain Names' started by ComputersLoveUs, Aug 29, 2010.

When I heard that Yahoo is selling domains for 1.99 I literally flipped!
I went to yahoo immediately to buy one (since the Go Daddy Promo has ended :( )
Then I saw that it costs 34.95 to renew it! And it automatically renews your domain!!!

So what I really need to know is can I transfer my domain somewhere like Go Daddy and
not get charged that ridiculous fee? I read everything while I attempted to order it but it didn't
make it clear if you could just skip out on that fee.

    Has anybody used this promo?

Don't worry, you can transfer the domain out to GoDaddy easily. I've done this a couple of times.

$1.99 domain at Yahoo is just a life saver - if GoDaddy's promo is gone. :)

Yes, you can transfer your domain after 60 days. It will take 24-48 hours to complete the transfer.

namecheap.com usually has good promo codes for domain transfers. You should search google for them and see what you find.

I've transferred from Yahoo after 9 months and it pretty easy. So usually, you only buy domain at Yahoo if you don't plan in developing the site yet but wants the domain. It buys you time for $2. Just make sure you transfer it before its first year or else you will get charge $35. BUT its not a Rip Off.
