True, I don't think getting a good ranking for a less competitive keyword is a sign of good SEO.

    Hi,

I am not sure whether internet marketing comes under SEO or not; But considering SEO as only onpage optimization and link building and nothing any apart from that is EASIER

But what I think is SEO is just not only on page optimization or link building or so but we need to add revenue to our site through advertizing the site to get good number of visitors whether it may be through Ads in google i.e., adwords or Press releases or throwing some articles on to the net so that visitors might get their eyes stucked on them and visit our website to know more...

So I dont think getting successful through all these methods is an easy task (as far as my knowledge is considered)

There are many SEO gurus here in our DP and i dont consider me even worth abt talking abt it infront of them.

Lets see whether i am correct in my argue or not?

    Thanks.

Actually, if you want to see who your competition really is for a keyword, try allinanchor:"your keyword" (without the quotes), and you will see a much more accurate display of which sites are actually chasing that term. allintitle: will show you who is putting that keyword in their title, but not who is building links for that keyword. Link building isn't the only factor in SERP, but it plays a huge part.:D

I guess it all depends on what you consider good traffic....
To me 1000 visitors a month would be to little to be worth my while...
10,000 a day... Now thats a lil better.

Then comes the task of getting them to book, buy or click through...

FireStorm how many visitors are we talkin bout?

i am talking of 1000 a day .. Well as said in the first post , seo is easy only for high searched keywords with less competition .. So the keyword research is for you to do .

IMO it is easy if you have money for link building. Its pretty tedious difficult to build fine amount of links by just my self.

Well in the end, it all translates to money. Who cares if you rank #1. If it doesn't convert to profit, directly or indirectly, then who cares?

There are much more things than just seo copywriting and link building... much more factors than one may even imagine of!

    Take care

i think some peoples version of good SEO greatly differes from others. I recently came across a guy who was offering an seo service on one of the forums. Out of curiosity i asked him for some examples of his work. The two examples he gave me were

    i) a site with a page rank of 5 but which had no content (he seemed to think this was some kind of holy grail  )
ii) a site which ranked in the top ten for an obsecure two keyword phrase..in quotes

obviously i hired the guy on the spot.

Anyone who uses the amount of results returned for a certain phrase as COMPETITION has no idea about SEO.

I have a term that has 113 million results when i type it in to google, how many times is it searched for per year? approx 30:eek:

Likewise there are terms that return 500k results and would take over a year to rank well for. So please can people stop saying things like "I rank top 3 for a 10 million result term" it is 100% pointless. Instead, have a look at your stats and tell us how many visitors you get from google per day for that term. That is all that matters.

Yes hehe! I guess optimizing for some common terms that exists on almost all websites is pretty worthless, but fun maybe :)

    keywords Examples:

"back to main page" lol I am not gonna write more, I checked who ranked highest for "back to main page" and it was a porno site.... hehe

Isn't it kind of hard to find a term that will produce a thousand vistors a day from yahoo?

I guarante that all secret keyword combinations are already optimized for... To get 1000 visitors/day you need to start working for real...
I wonder how long it would take to get 1000/visitors a day for a selected keyterm if I started today. One year??? perhaps... That is if I put all effort in it..
