has anyone noticed serp results on y getting normalized by their listing in y directory? by normalize, i mean that we are link-building to specific pages inside of our site, but when we show up in the serps, our home page link is what is showing because that's what is in in y directory for our site, regardless of term. i see this happening with many of the listing in y serps, but not all. there are some sites that have y directory listings, but their inside pages are appearing in y serps vs. their home page which is listed in the y directory. the other thing we're seeing is that regardless of anchor text for the links that we have pointing at these inside pages, they are all effecting our directory category, and not the actual term that we're anchor-texting in particular. not sure if this is normal on y.
I've seen that my directory listing title and description shows in the serps - but only when it's the home page.
I notice yahoo likes to list the homepage where it can, instread of internal pages of sites... regardless of inclusion in the directory.
that could be what we're seeing. I'm just wondering if there's a rule of thumb for how it happens, because in some instances it's snapping to the directory entry, and in other cases it doesn't. it makes our optimization tricky.
Yeah, but old sites are indexed with all internal pages, including the new ones. Just take a look at this forum...
