Vista will require high RAM Damn i have shell out more money, for upgrading screw microsoft. I have also heard that Google might launch their own OS ? ? ? Anyone know about it
There is no reason why a fresh install of XP would be slower than a fresh install of Vista. It is a fact that Vista uses more resources, a lot more, even Microsoft admit it. Apart from that, I basically agree with you. I high-end new machine will run Vista fine and Flip3D is certainly fun. However, what I want to see from a new OS is useful additional features, not just eye-candy.
WAY too early for microsoft. Seeing as SP3 Is coming out in 2008, Yes boys its coming, And MS will almost definately have to support that. Nevertheless I'd say its been a good run 7-8 years for xp, I think it is time for us all to make the switch. I have and i like it.
In my personal experience from all the pc's i've seen running either vista or xp it's really the ram size and bandwith that makes the difference. On my pc I have 1.7Gb's Of ram and vista runs find, although I turn of aero for my gaming, As the pc just goes to a crawl (fps wise). I also find vista a lot more stable than XP and that when an application decides to freeze you can actually quit it.
Well, I had Vista runing perfectly on 512mb ram for 3 weeks, then I decied to upgrade to 1GB of ram. Now I have 1.2GB of ram. Yes, it attualy runs perfect on 256mb more on the reconmened size.
That is a very inaccurate statement. Windows XP will not "retire" or cease to be supported in 2008. December 31, 2008 is the date that Microsoft has given in their product lifecycle that marks the end of "Direct OEM and Retail License Availability". This does not mark the end of XP support, but the rather the end of XP license sales. Microsoft "System Builder" partners will be able to continue to purchase licenses through December 31, 2009. According to Microsoft's Lifecycle Information for Windows XP, mainstream support for XP will end on 4/14/2009 and extended support will end on 4/14/2014. The end of mainstream support means that they will no longer offer "non-security hotfix support, no-charge incident support, warranty claims, or design changes and feature requests." The extended support means that they will continue to offer "security updates, paid support, and access to the XP Knowledgebase and Help on their site" through 2014. You can rest assure that XP will continue to be supported through 2014, and 2008 only means the end of XP license sales to the general public. The statement that XP will be retired in 2008 is absolutely incorrect.
XP will only retire 2009, but not fully and its not like you ever ask for help directly from microsoft anyway, just go to a computer help forum (sig) for advice on systems since '98! And in 2009 Vienna comes out so just skip Vista and jump from XP to Vienna.
I am buying a laptop on monday, And I made a deal with the store that if they get rid of vista and put XP on it then I will pay them $100, And they agreed, Because they don't like vista either.
Yes, it alwasy seems to be the case. That's why I overkilled on RAM so much with my laptop because I knew that, in a years time, i'd be grateful of it. And what exactly did you do with it during that time. Play any games?
i use both windows vista(on my laptop) and windows xp on my pc but i think xp still the best OS for me.
