I agree...have you heard that microsoft said hp and dell are allowed to sell xp again with their machines opposed to xp for six more months until they fix vista up and it becomes more stable.

If you want speed then definately go with XP. Having said that I'm using Vista Business on my 2 computers. I've had very few conflicts with software. The only problem I have for those that do their own bookkeeping is with Simply Accounting. When I browse their help its opens a new process for every page I view and locks my pc up.

Overall I personally like vista but I do notice it runs a bit slower.

I would say better 1GB for Basic and 2GB for advanced use (minimum).

I still didn't find a good reason to switch to Vista. I bought a laptop with Vista and replaced it with the XP about a week later.

The requirements are too high and it's just too bad to have a slower OS just for a few features.

If someone need those features, that's a whole different story, but most users just don't need them.

Vista because it makes a great friend/co-worker prank.

The next time your friend leaves their computer unsupervised:

Turn on their vista narrator (The speech translation program "use this computer without a keyboard"). This will disable all keyboard functions.

Better yet, when they finally figure out why their keyboard is not working, they will have to put in the overtime with Microsoft tech support because Vista has a bug in which once you turn this feature on YOU CAN'T TURN IT OFF!!!

That and a million other bugs make Vista far more entertaining but if you want a work environment that "works" use XP.

Bottom line, XP is better because after six years Microsoft has worked out most of the crap. In six years Vista will be a better product but right now it is hands down the more reliable XP.

if your system exceed for the minimum requirements for vista go for it., but if it only support minimum requirements of vista I'll suggest you to take take XP first, because you won't appreciate Vista from that set-up
