I had the same problem with a new laptop. The recommendation was to uninstall the wifi, reboot the computer, let it recognize and reinstall the wifi. No problems after that. Vista has some problems, I was was reluctant to get on my new machine. I have had it for over a month and like it so far.

Just a matter of time for VISTA i guess.Even if ms extends support for xp,it will have to end soon.No corporation supports a product endlessly when they have new ones down the production line. When the companies come p with the device drivers required for driving hardware,VISTA will be more accepted. As for the resource consumption, each year we go into the future, this argument becomes less obsolete.Try to find out what processors most new laptops run.It will be core 2 duo.And ram is getting cheaper by the day.

on my computer i keep XP, but on the new notebook i use Vista, it's good and stable, just control DRM with vispa and remove all that useless features.

Anyway xp drivers for my new notebook don't work good (wireless don't work) so i have no choise.

Vista is pretty but not very useful or fast. It takes like 5 minutes just for the startup boot cuz their is so much crap to load on startup :)

I love my iMac even more because of Vistas ineptness.

don't tell me that! you know it'll just get slower over time too as the OS becomes bloated...I have to reboot my LT now and then go do other stuff just b/c it takes forever...and that's with XP!

Who needs an operating system like vista which consumes an order of magnitude more of disk space than XP without really adding much in the way of new features and functionality (actually, quite the opposite - Vista has a much more complex licensing system).

Puke, I'll stick with my Linux thank you.

I have been using Vista Ultimate for a while now and i have become a huge advocate of it, its much better than XP takes some getting used to, you have to have a system which can handle it and yes it has its annouyances.

but i have tweaked it so some of the issues are no more, (the UAC for example) however i think the things microsoft have fixed compared to XP outweights the tiny annouances.

Drivers are a breeze, never had any problems, and only installed 2 drivers manually, EyeToy and a very old scanner, where as on XP i would have to install at least 50 by now..

updates are better, it looks and feels better and handles crashes (on the odd ocasion they occur) MUCH better than XP and have so far NEVER had to restart pc because of crashes.

Really like it, hopefully in their next release they will have fixed the issues with Vista and we can move on from there,...
