Definitely XP! Maybe I'll make the switch to vista when SP1 is launched.

Vista is awesome on high quality computers. Once they patch it up, it will be an awesome OS to have. I have yet to have any problems with Vista on my computer, but it is a new comp...

I have a PC with vista and two laptops with xp. My laptops with xp run the same or faster than the PC and the PC is brand new. I have to agree that vista is more flashy and mabey secure but I have found it to be way less stable than xp at least for me.

XP by a long shot. Vista uses way to much RAM and still not compatible with all the software. Yes, I have used Vista before and still prefer XP over Vista.

I started using Linux some years ago but finally in 2007 thanks to Ubuntu I keep using it more, more and more.

Vista for me - as I recently purchased a new notebook and it runs just fine.

However, if I was on my old system I'd probably choose XP.

Vista is just a bad copy of Mac's Tiger OS with loads of bugs and less support for applications, not to mention how resource hungry it is. At this point in time, I can't see why anyone would use Vista over XP.

That is 100% true. However, if you have more then enough rewuirements to run Vista, you should dual boot. I am triple booting between XP, Vista and Fedora, and I have the freedom to use which OS I like when I like :)

XP has speech recognition too :)

As of now, I'm inclined to say XP is the better of the two. However, once Vista's bugs/flaws are fixed, I'd probably start using it.
