You still have a choice. If you buy Dell (at least for now) you can get XP on select systems.....they might end that next year though.

My parents ordered from Dell, but they claim that their only choice was Vista.
I was not with them when they ordered their computer.

If you call Dell you should be able to get it. Call their customers relation board and that should take care of it.

Vista is OK when it works.

My new PC came with it on, but I like XP more as it's stable.

My system is Vista ready, and I tried Vista for a month. But i discovered a lot of problems. Main problem: I have an external drive (500 Gb) but Vista can't work correct with external drives a lost (ALL) my information for three times during a week. So my choise is XP (Until Microsoft finished Windows Vista SP1 )
    That's my opinion.

    Xp is better.
Vista uses more resources of the PC

if i want eye candy ill toss on linux, if i wont a stable, system friendly OS with broad software support (for the average user :p) ill go with XP.

Maybe in time Vista will be more feasible, but for now theres just no REAL advantage to it in my eyes.

    Hi!
I'll be using XP until the force me to upgrade by not supporting XP anymore.
I've seen VISTA...and you can have it..even after service pack 1.

Same goes for Outlook 2007 as well..Again..I'll have outlook 2003 until they force me to use something else.

I have xp and my friend has vista. Now he kinda regrets spending the big bucks as soon as Vista came out cause it's just another operating system nothing revolutionary. Maybe if Windows had some real competition ... we could really get excited then.

The main problem with most people who have problems with Vista is RAM. Fix your RAM and you're good to go.

You also need (not the best and latest) but a nice 3D card with good RAM 128 minimum.

7200 RPM or faster Hard Disk also helps.
