Hi I just discovered cleartype the other day in Windows XP and really reccomend it for anyone who's squinting at their screen and dosn't have it turned on. Right click desktop and open properties then -> click appearance tab -> effects. tick - "use the following method for font smoothing" (etc etc mine's in spanish) and select ClearType from the dropdown and accept.
I just turned mine off to see the differnece....and they don't compare for me. Oh well. Are you guys using flat screens or normal CRT monitors?
Not true. It improves things on many systems. Try it - if it makes it better, keep it. If not, turn it off.
So where does it say there that it won't also improve readability on other displays? I'm using it here on a CRT and I've been doing so, through three different monitors now, for a few years. As I said, try it for yourself. If you don't like the effect, turn it off. But it most certainly does improve legibility/readability on many systems without LCD screens.
I'm using it on a CRT and I promise it looks way better with cleartype turned on... Anyway seems like it's only improving some monitors and not others but this is CRT.
Actually, I am having a terrible time with my computer, the images are really dark and I don't know if it is the monitor or the video card... Time to get a laptop and give this one away...
You mean they look antialiased? Maybe it's because you're not used to looking at it. Why not try it for a day and then turn it off again?
Fryman can't help it. He's been that way ever since he became British. First his eyes went bad. Then his tongue fell off.
