.xml or .xml.gz , which one is better??

    hello,

    I just started a new wordpress blog, I installed google sitemap generator plugin in it..
    It creates both .xml and .xml.gz files, which one should i use ? xml or xml.gz ??
    please help..

    The .gz version is basicly the .xml file compressed. Google supports .gz version. Anyways, I also use .xml as well for most of my websites.

    If you are using a large sitemap..then it is a good practice to use it in compressed form as .gz version....otherwise use use .xml.....both works same

    this is very true, I use the compressed version.

    For a small site though .xml is fine
