I prefer xml sitemap for submission to google through webmaster tools so that the bot will spider new pages while html sitemap gives an idea about your site for the human visitors
Hi, XML Sitemaps are excellent as they are easy for the search engines like Google, MSN, Yahoo and ask to read, infact they look for a sitemap.xml file when indexing a new site. There's no harm in producing an HTML version in addition though. Many people feel more comfortable working with HTML to create their websites "look & feel" and this isn't a problem. So i'd say the first thing you need is a sitemap.xml file, then and only then should you think about an HTML sitemap in addition. Bestpay
yeah i'm going to go with a basic html site map too, I read once that having a html one helps with ranking as it helps users and having a basic html file compared to an xml sitemap is easier on users eyes even if I don't get any brownie points its only a couple of seconds work and will do no harm
HTML sitemap for the users and XML sitemap for the search engines. I prefer to use both or to use a XSL stylesheet on my XML sitemap so that it looks similar to the one sitemap plugin of Wordpress. Just makes it easier on the eye.
here is complete process to create them manualy http://www.techboard.somee.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=7&PID=15#15
XML for indexing all of your pages. HTML for getting more pagerank and comfort for your users. a XML sitemap souldn't be a part of your site, a html sitemap SHOULD be a part of your site. good luck.
xml sitemap is used for the search engine spiders and html sitemap for the human visitors. I prefer to use both.
Html sitemap is basically used to navigate human beings throughout the website, however, xml is used for crawlers
I use both the html and xml sitemap for different use. But I update the xml sitemap more frequently than the html. Html is mainly for the human visitor for their ease
