XML Data feeds

    Hi,
For the last 3 weeks i'm trying to generate xml data feeds of products from the CJ marketplace.

I signed up to CJ, joined a program of one of the advertisers and got approved.
Than i started to research regarding the data feeds.

I downloaded a PHP example code to search products from here:

    http://webservices.cj.com/resources/code_tools.html

Followed the instructions and uploaded it to my server.

It doesn't work! i tried everything i could think of and every search a try gives the following output:
I posted a number of posts at the webservices.cj.com forum but no one seem to know what to do to make it work.

I'm sure CJ can generate data feeds. I've seem some ebay shops of affiliate that i'm sure use the same feed technology and they work fine.

I just want to get product XML data feeds.

Please help me, and let me know what i should do to make it work. This is very annoying and i don't understand why no one seems to have the answer...

    Thanks in advance

CJ does not have any products so to speak.

They carry the graphics links html banners and ads for participating advertisers.

E-bay allows the data feed export of items for sale.

See the BANS link in my sig if youre interested in a great piece of software to do what you want.

    Peace!

    Thank you for your reply...

I would like to create a site the shows a list of all the books that are available in the website of the advertiser i'm affiliating and joined their program.

If i understand correctly the examples on the page bellow generate a list of products by a specific key phrase:
    http://webservices.cj.com/resources/code_tools.html

(i guess it's also works with XML data feeds)

The problem is those examples doesn't work...

How can i make it work? And if no one knows than why CJ offer those examples? isn't it just a waist of their and our time?

    About the BANS:
Are the BANS products open source?

It seems to say you can use html flash with adobe flex builder, and php scripting. I dont see xml but imagine via one of the above you could convert to an xml feed or use an RSS feed publishing tool.

No BANS is not open source that I know of.

What version of PHP are you using? What version of CJ datafeed format are you using (productSearchServiceV2.wsdl or productSearchService.wsdl)? The CJ web service is very touchy, if you get one thing wrong in your request to the service, you'll most likely get the return that you received.

Also, if you post your sample code (please remember to remove sensitive values -- developerKey, websiteID, etc) I might be able to help.

I believe you are not familiar with the uses of XML...

PHP, Flash and others are in this case technologies that can ask the cj server for information. This information comes in an XML protocol. Just like the ebay BANS works (i don't have one but i'm sure that is the way it works).

I mean if CJ can display a table of products of a specific advertiser on the account manager i'm sure they supply XML feed of those lists. So it's not only for ebay products.

    BTW:
    BANS are open source:
    http://www.buildanichestore.com/faqs.php#s5

Anyone else knows how to generate XML data feeds of products i'm promoting?

Please please guide me... I know server side languages and tried to get this information in so many places. No one seems to know (or want to tell me) how i can generate XML data of the products i'm promoting (on the advertiser i'm associated with). I tried the examples CJ provides and they doesn't work.
I managed to do it at linkshare within 1 day... why is it so hard to do at CJ?

    Thanks...

I may be wrong, but generating xml data feeds isn't the affiliates' responsibility; it's the responsibility of the advertisers.

CJ.com will host the xml feed of any of their advertisers who provide it for their affiliates. The sad thing is that affiliates will have to pay (last I heard it was $200) in order to access those feeds. :( This much I learn via correspondence with a CJ.com advertiser. And the price is set by CJ, not the advertiser.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong. I want to access xml feeds too.

If that is the case it is pretty sad.....

Might be worth looking at Amazon again.....though thats not a great idea there should not be a reason to have to pay such a fee to CJ when the advertisers are paying them to use their service as is.....

    Good luck!

Yep, I was right. After logging into my CJ account, I clicked on the Contact Us link and hit the FAQ link. From there I performed a search on product feed. Here's what I got:

    Here's some more:

So there you have it. It's gonna cost to get the product feed. :(

Dude-Dastic, thank you very much. A dude indeed!
You solve a big mystery for me i guess it was under my nose all the time, i'm sure i looked there but probably not hard enough.

hanji, my reply was to sem-advance. i will read your tutorial it sound like what i need to know to run the example script. what's the difference between the database i can access on these examples to the feeds mentioned above?

What about the ebay BANS ready made sites? how come people doesn't have to pay for the $200 service on top of the platform? or do they...?

Also.. do you think these data feeds supplied by cj include every product i see on the marketplace? (if i'm in the advertisers program)

I'm researching in order to build a website that compare prices and a number of features of very specific niche products. The products i aiming for are visible at the marketplace but if i can't get updated feeds of them it's $200 down the drain for me...

    Thanks...

I think clix99 is talking about the XML Data feed accessible through the CJ API you don't have to pay $200 for it. I've been trying to connect to it all day today. When I FINALLY got it working the option to select from only advertisers I joined didn't work, so now I Emailed CJ support.

Anyway I had to connect to this SOAP host to get it working:

    https://product.api.cj.com/wsdl/rpc_encoded/productSearchService.wsdl

That's not the one they have in the tutorial for whatever reason.

Also, all the servers you connect to are listed here Including the V2 ones and the old versions (sry I can't post live links yet):

    https://product.api.cj.com

I'll post again if I get it working or get an e-mail response, so far I can pull the products related to a keyword, my only problem is its also pulling data from some UK vendor I'm not even signed up with. Even if I set it to only bring in USD products. :\

I also can not connect to the V2 servers, thats when i get "There was an error with your request or the service is unavailable.".

Hopefully they respond to my e-mail soon.

BANS is a one time fee of $97.00 with unlimited license for as many sites as you can make. I am on # 6 in two weeks :D

BANS uses products from E-bay which makes their product feeds available free. CJ is used simply as e-bay uses them to manage their affiliate program.

Your site can hone in on a niche such as just Avon products or you can target a broad category such as I have done with this site http://www.skincaretlc.com

Products will roll through the site as they become available and drop off once the auctions close.

Once you have built the site it is pretty much set & forget as new content is generated for you almost daily and that leaves one to concentrate on SEO / SEM / Traffic building however one wishes..

The only cost above the BANS price is domain purchase, hosting of the site. ( I use hostgator $35.00 per month reseller and have 54 + live sites)

Above that... some cheap design work for a header graphic or other customization you would like.

Hope it helps.....this is a pay it forward as someone here was nice enough to smack me upside the head to show me the light.....
    :)

    Peace!
