Well sales for me have dropped latly. I know microsoft had that lawsuit against them about the red ring of death, but not too sure if that has anything to do with my decrease in sales or not. Anyone eles promtoe a xbox repair guide that seen a drop of sales?
I would guess that it got out to a torrent, the gaming community will never pay for something they can find easily for free.
Torrents have got nothing to do with it. These guides have been on the torrents for a good few years now and they still sold like hotcakes, yes, even to the gaming community. I think Venroy was saying that Microsoft recently extended the warranties though which may have a lot to do with the drop in sales. My sales on these products are way down as well.
It has a lot to do with Microsoft extending their warranty period, how kind of drop have you seen in sales?
It is true that the warranties were extended out to 3 years and now cover several different errors. However XBOX 360 is in it's 4th year, so there are many xboxes dropping out of warranty coverage everyday now. When the normal holiday rush hits, and the new games hit the market, people will want to fix their xboxes. There are still affiliates making many sales on a daily basis. Also Google has been mixing things up a bit. Sites that use to rank high, and were good for back links are now no where to be seen. Other sites are taking their place. You just have to keep alert, and give google what they want.
I did just change the site around alittle bit to hopfully get some more sales. I pretty much know jack about html so ive been useing a x site pro templete, wanting to promote more and design better web pages, over the last 2 days I've been playing around with paint shop pro and changed the header a little bit by adding some Xbox 360 characters. Can you review my site and give me some ideas I can try? links in my sig. thanks
I am into Xbox repair niche for a while now, do have more than 1000 pages on web for this niche. Last week I had seen a strong fall in sales, No doubt, Saturday and Sunday gets the best conversion ratio, but still I feel this niche will die sooner or later. Now I am switching my vision from Xbox to some other hot market.Lets see how it goes.
It's Because what was mentioned above, microsoft have extended there warrenty period so why buy a repair guide when you can send it back to them for free and get a new one! B.
I agree with nick - this is a time limited niche for sure. So you should definitely diversify. However this niche still has some legs, and will get a huge boost during the holidays, when a ton of xboxes will fall out of the warranty coverage. This definitely won't last forever, but you may as well bank on it while it lasts.
Yeah sure, Im just all about having multiple methods and projects always running, so that I never get caught out. I can't afford to, I really on IM for my bread and butter If I was you, Id find out what the next big gaming system is going to be called as soon as possible, and create a repair site based on that name
Hi Nilzar, I took a quick look at your site and have a few suggestions that you can implement as you see fit. I'm no expert but these are all the changes I've made to my own landing pages that have resulted in increases in conversion. Here's what I would do if that was my site: 1)I'd lose the header graphic altogether, or at least replace it with a header that doesn't take up too much space (1"-1.5" in height, MAX). Most landing pages that convert the best do not look the best. Space above the fold is very valuable, and you wouldn't want to waste it on such a header. 2)I'd also take out the side bar. I've found the 1-column format to work the best for landing pages (for instance, how many clickbank sales pages you've seen has a sidebar? I rest my case), especially since it's not doing much at the moment. 3)The navigation bar with a link to "Home" is also redundant. You want to minimize actions that the visitor can take, that has nothing to do with getting them to click through to the merchant sales page - in fact, this should be your ONLY goal (i.e. to ship them off to the merchant). 4)I would put the statement "Don't Waste over $140.00 sending your Xbox to be repaired by Microsoft!" at the VERY top of the page. This would make a very good headline, but at the moment many of your visitors may not even get a chance to see it because it's so far from the top. You may also want to add "Defeated By the Red Ring of Death?" or something similar to the headline. 5)I would then follow the headline with a short presell. All of the paragraphs you currently have below the video is good material, but a bit too long to read. Remember that you should be pre-selling your visitor, not actually sell to them (leave that to the merchant). You may want to condense all that material into say 2-3 very short paragraphs of 2-3 sentences each. 6)After the pre-sell, I would then put in that graphic of the best guide, and beside the graphic I would make a few bullet points stating the main BENEFITS (note the difference between benefits and features - people care about benefits a LOT more than features) of the guide. One of them can be that it's a video. Another can be that it comes with a money-back guarantee (all clickbank products do). 7)I would take out the video altogether - depending on where the visitor clicks, they may exit your site to go to Youtube instead. You ONLY want them to click through to the merchant. 8)Also, I would take out the other Xbox guides altogether. I'm not quite sure about this one so you'll want to test this and monitor your conversion. Sometimes when you give people too many choices they're less likely to make a decision. Moreover, you've already done the presell on the best product, so it's just a matter of saying "tada! Here's the product I'm talking about. Now click on through to find out more about it." You'll be more eloquent with the wording, of course. 9)Lastly and MOST IMPORTANTLY, you need to put links to the merchant site throughout the page. Simple text links such as "click here for more details" or "click here to check out this video" will do. Also MAKE SURE you put at LEAST ONE link above the fold (i.e. where visitors can see it before scrolling down to the rest of your page). Often, that will be the link that gets the most clicks. Most people won't even scroll down at all. Hope that helps! Sorry to hear about the downturn of your product, but if you can build a landing page that converts for you, you can make one for any other product and enjoy the same success. Good luck! Amy
I suspect it has a lot to do with this... http://cgi.ebay.com/XBOX-360-Repair-Manual-Red-Light-Guide-FREE-SHIPPING_W0QQitemZ260398987033QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVideo_Games_Accessories?hash=item3ca0fd3719&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1309|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
You got to be joking, just because one person sells it on ebay that affects all xbox repair affiliates.......you have no idea what your talking about.
Yes sales are still good in this niche as although the warranty has been put forward for the 1 red light error, it was always there for the 3 red lights and plenty of people bought the guide. It sells becuase it is a quicker fix then having to wait while you have your 360 repaired. Of course it won't last for ever, but is going good at the moment. If anyone needs any help promoting let me know All the best Chris
Sorry for bringing up an old thread -- But I was just wondering if people are still making money in this niche?
