Hello DP, What are the pro's and con's of each? I'm thinking of switching from Xbox to PS4. Please help me make a decision Thank you!! -- I look forward to reading all of your replies!
I played both at E3 this year and I am sold on the PS4, it is designed for gamers not entertainment media centers. Plenty of great games coming out and great features. I am picking mine up at midnight on the 15th. I also really like the new controller design of the DS4.
Great! Thanks for your reply The impression I got as well is that the Xbox one seems like an entertainment center, more than a gaming console.....you just confirmed my suspicions
Not that I use either that much, but I have an Xbox 360 and PS3 currently and I haven't turned on the Xbox in about 5 years... I didn't like how I had to pay to play online (Xbox Live is a subscription). Since I play games so little, it just wasn't worth it. Looks like you still have to pay for Xbox Live on Xbox One, so for *me*, it makes it not even a contender for which one I would buy. That being said, I'm going to get a PS4 and not an Xbox One.
Just to be clear you will have to have PS Plus to play most online multiplayer games: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/10/30/ps4-the-ultimate-faq-north-america/ But unlike XBox, you still can do all of this without Plus: What network services will be free on PS4, without a PlayStation Plus membership? Some of the features users can enjoy for free include: Accessing entertainment, film, and TV services (Users must subscribe separately to individual services) Share options, including sending gameplay video and screenshots to Facebook, screenshots to Twitter, or livestreaming gameplay via Ustream or Twitch Sharing video to Facebook, Playing PS4 games remotely using the PS Vita system (Remote Play) Comparing Trophy data with other users Sending and receiving text messages from other users PlayStation Store access (users must pay to purchase premium content) Live item, activity feeds on Dynamic Menu Party (cross game voice chat) Web browser PlayStation App services (on iOS/Android devices)
One other major advantage is the PS Trade up program for titles like Battlefield 4, Call of Duty, Assassins Creed, etc. With XBox you have to trade the game in to get the next gen for $10 whereas PS you get to keep the old version and then redeem a coupon and download the Next Gen Version
