I've been using xampp for a while to play around, but Apache stopped working ever since I tried using it as a service. Can anyone help me? Also, does anyone think that theres a better way of hosting a site on my computer than xampp?

I played with many things currently use WAMP but will soon shift to XAMPP
    IMO XAMPP is best :)

I dont know what happened to your apache :? but I believe is XAMPP is far easilier than IIS

    hey try to run xampp-portcheck.exe

Maybe the port is not free. I experienced this before that skype is using port 80.

Make sure he port is free.

Also, check if the apache isn't being blocked by the firewall.

I'm running vista, and when I try running the port check, the program automatically stops working.

I managed to get a screenshot of the cmd prompt before it closed and it said,
C:\Users\Me\Appdata\local\temp\rarsfx2\checkports.vbs(66, 4) Microsoft VBScript runtime error: Subscript out of range: '0'
    Code (markup):

Edit: I tried running the Apache_start.bat manually and i got this error:

Diese Eingabeforderung nicht waehrend des Running beenden
Bitte erst bei einem gewollten Shutdown schliessen
Please close this command only for Shutdown
