xampp help!

    when i move the file im trying to view into htdocs then go on browsers an type http://localhost/(filename) i get this:

    Object not found!
    The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again.

    is this the rite htdocs . mostly its in xampp folder is it correct make sure

    yup its in the right folder, still not working though,
    i dont need to change anything once i install right? just put my stuff in this file and view threw local host?

    yes u dont need to change anything unless u wanna put virtual host for a domain

    i have same problem. after xampp installed newly i placed all project to root directory.
    http://localhost/     [ is showing perfectly.but when i try to access my project's directory (http://localhost/project/) is shows following error:

    how to change my server from oracle http server ???
    i've installed both wamp n xampp but whenever i open my localhost, oracle http server is only displayed n i'm unable to execute my hhp pages stored in www, n wen i give http://localhost/myfirst.php
    it displays error 404
    i've oracle 9i installed,should i uninstall it?
    please do help
