Does anyone have experience with these 2 scripts? Which one would you recommend and why? I am looking to purchase. Or if you know of one even better, please let me know. Thank you.
I have got both scripts, and have had problems with both.... ES doesnt generate thumbs using FFmpeg, you have to manually generate them which is time consuming & x10media can be hacked, even the latest version, i worked on my site for 2 week period just to get it hacked this weekend by a muslim group who are determined to rid the world of porn!!!
I'll say this, KIP, the creator of the script is pretty cool, I gave him a hard time when I was having troubles and he was quick to help me out with fixing it and showing me some features. For the easiness of using the script, it is worth what he is selling it for, Especially when the updates keep coming out and you get them free for life.
X10media script its a mess, got a lots of bugs. But you could make a good job if you would had someone experienced to help you fix the problems. I had version 1.5 and had been hacked constantly (once per week). Even with the 1.67 I have been hacked just a few hours after I have installed it and it still have lots of bugs. The idea of the script its very good and easy to use, but its still not finalized. Maybe version 2.0 would be something better.
muxiz, the only script that ive purchased and made improvements on was the mp3 script. Unreal, there were some vulnerabilities in v1.5 - 1.6.5 (not on purpose) that the script was beta tested, and nothing was found, and then released, several weeks someone posted something in a live forum about an error, and thats where it all started. I quickly began to fix it. However with v1.6.7, either you have an underlying php shell file, or all the files weren't replaced with the upgrade. Because in v1.6.7 shell scripts CAN NOT run in the videofiles or photo folder. None the less, I have changed over 90% of the files for v1.7 and have added ajax and a ton more. Also added more security. I do see the script gets "attacked" quite often, but any attempt has failed at hacking it. I won't send the URL right now, because I still am coding it and it's not finished, but it has ajax, a redone admin panel, and quite a few more features and a LOT cleaner files.
I have to agree with kip that from v1.7 most of the problems were solved and I'm not having major issues with the script
