no its not correct. just the domain itself is not the primary indicator of ranking. yes, wordpress and blogger have certain authority with google but that authority itself is not enough to get you ranked. there are lot of other criterias that need to be considered.

Nope, Its not easier. Its easier to get a great quality score from google if you use it properly but creating your own domain and hosting wordpress platform is better.
Yes I think so... may be subdomains of higher PR value domains carries higher weight... Thats why you can create pages not only in blogspot, wordpress etc. but also in posterous, wikispaces, wetpaint, weebly, etc.

wordpress and blogdopot they are very search engine friendly, but it does not means they have already an advantage. However, it is a good practice to incorporate a blog to your website and keep it with good content in a daily/weekly basis

Hi Prabash, You can get some initial help in ranking with blogspot and wordpress.com , But in long run there are so many advantage associated with your own domain. advise you to work on your owndomain.com ...once it gets recognized by search engines, that can build a whole business to you. ---Sar
IMO, there are a lot of factors to affect the rank, so i think build your independent blog is better!
Nothing like that, if you good content then it will likely to get rankings. if you have own business then use domain.com/blog or blog.domain.com for corporate blog and start blogging.
