    Hi friends,
I have registered a new domain called www.thepetsworld.com
As of now the domain has not yet been developed and does not have any traffic.
How much do you think I could get now just for the name alone ?
    Thank you all in advance...:)

If it was available, why is it worth more than the registration fee?

I could register mypetsworld.com, incrediblepets.com, myamazingpets.com, worldofamazingpets.com, yourpetsworld.com, etc... (I did not check those names but I bet at least half are available). Why is yours better with no traffic and no revenue and no site?

    MYPETSWORLD.COM is already taken.
    INCREDIBLEPETS.COM is already taken.
    MYAMAZINGPETS.COM is available!
    WORLDOFAMAZINGPETS.COM is available!
    YOURPETSWORLD.COM is already taken.

Do you think Myamazingpets.com and worldofamazingpets.com sounds as good as www.thepetsworld.com ? :(

I think RollOverRover.com is better :). I'm just kidding, but that is my newest domain and I wouldn't expect anything more then reg fee for it right now. I'm going to develop it over a year and then try and make some money on it (since I don't have time to open a pet store there :( ). Simply registering a domain name that you think is catchy isn't going to make you any money, you have to develop it nowadays. ;)

How much difference do you think, PageRank could make ?
For eg. if I have PR4 for this same domain and a reasonable amount of traffic, for how much do you think i can sell it then ?

It can make a huge difference. PR and traffic make it an actual website instead of just a domain. But, even with traffic and PR, you'll still need to find someone that will pay what you want for it ;)...

I'd have to say it is worth low to mid $xx range. Develop it, and it could be worth quite a bundle. ;)

Generally if it is themed, it would depend on the value the name can bring to a buyer. Like the rest said, with PR or traffic, the value of the domain name would go up. When I buy used domain names, I will always check PR rating if I need to pay more than $10 for it.

Of course, the value would indeed come when it is a developed site and bringing in traffic. It is really a question of value-added here. Do a little work on the site and it will bring in more value.

IMHO, in the past there was a huge market for domain name trade even if they are new but now with lots of new tld coming out and the option for longer domain names, the market is really getting more competitive. People are more critical now when buying a name.

I would personally think that the only time I will buy a domain name is when I plan to use it and work with it and not for the sake of making a quick sale. Of course, I do put up some domain names for sale because I cannot find the time to make use of them. Some went into the recycle bin and I just counted that as a bad investment.

Maybe you should consider making use of the domain name you got, it is a good name but the pet niche industry isn't all that huge but it does not mean that it is useless, it can still be something big.
