No, there is no difference in terms of spidering or seo. The URL with the trailing backslash may load slightly faster though.

The common issue many sites have is URLs with and without the www.. There is a difference there.

How would this be a problem for SEO ?

the only SEO issue would be if both 123.com and 123.com/ both pointed to the same page but if you only have one then how would it adversly affect sEO ?

not making a dig just interested in your thinking behind this.

I think their is not much difference in both. when we opened some sites. Their url automatically converts .com into .com/.

    I agree

yes it is up the search engines to do this but they do not.

    if you have http://www.123.com

    and also

http://123.com then the search engines run the risk of seeing two seperate sites with duplicate content.

    why?

who knows ask google to explain it to you.

fact is the trailing slash should make no difference but the preceding part apparently does.

I've already heard about the "with www." or "without www." before. I was actually a little curious about the trailing slash myself. Although I couldn't see any reason why it would make a difference, it's nice to have some closure on it. Thanks for the info guys!

The whole www thing is bizarre - I am sure I have read that Google does now try to reconise when a www an non www URL are the same and take it in to account - but perhaps I was dreaming that commonsense move...
