Some wants to pay me thru WU.. but i haven't used it before.. So i just wanted to know what is the procedure for it ? What info would i need to provide to him, and how can his payment in India ? Also, if any Indian has received money thru WU? He wants to send me ard 200 $ ,so what wil be the chrges and the how much time would it take ? Pls let me know the details, thanks

i am from india and i have received money through western union before... all you need is give your name, adddress and phone number to your sender and then ask your sender his/her name, address, phone number and the money transfer number... and then go to the nearest western union office and ask for the form. fill up the forum and they will give you the money after you provide photo id proof like driver lic.
It should cost about US$10 to send $200 through Western Union and there is no charge to receiving it.
do u also remember the charges ? someone told me its 8 $ per 50 $ received, thats whopping 16 % u sure abt this ? i mean do we have a standard rate thru out world ? cause someone gave be above rates .. i was also not able to find rates at their w/site
No, there isn't a standard rate. I am just assuming that the party is from the US and sending you the money to India. I found the $10 quote at http://www.westernunion.com/info/osMoneyTransferOptions.asp?country=US&origination=global Then on the right hand panel under 'Price Online Services' I select 'Money in Minutes', the only option to sending money to India and then state the amount of money you want to send and so on. By the way, it is $10 service charge to send $50. If you need the money fast, it is a great option especially for travellers who rans out of money and need quick money. It is not supposed to be an option you use for regular transfer of funds.
i dont know how much my sender pay but when i recieved it, i didnt have to pay any fees... so you can recieve it without having to pay anything....
