Bit of an odd one, but here we go... I'm 21 and have a secure job, working for the Local Government, on a good salary for my age. I've just had a raise confirmed for the end of the month, with a further one planned for April 2008. Further to this, i'm registered as self-employed as since the start the year, i've been trying out various methods of sustaining an income above and beyond my 'day' job (I guess my "self-employment" goes back to when I was 14, when I created a popular wrestling "e-fed", through School when I played in and managed a band, to leaving School and having my own music promotions company). For the first 6 months of the year, I was like the majority of new guys starting out - if one thing didn't work straight away, i'd drop it and move on. However, since July, i've been concentrating on a small amount of projects, and things are looking good. I assume the majority of people in a similar position to me would love to leave their day job and concentrate on their own projects - and i'm no different. I get up for work at 7:00am, and get home at around 5:30pm. Once i've grabbed some food, a shower and seen my Girlfriend, I spend the rest of the evening until 1:30am on my own projects. Rinse and repeat, Monday to Friday. Although I may onlybe 21, I've had several years working experience, and have been quite fortunate in my working life. I've gained more experience and had more management experience than most of my current colleagues aged 35+. It sounds like I'm blowing my own trumpet, but I don't mean it like that. I'm trying to get across the point that my current job is, well, not challenging me enough. And I have 2 options. 1) Stick with it. It's a job. It pays the bills. Plus, i'll be getting two pay rises in the next 6 months. 2) Go full time self-employed. Which is where i'm hoping - although it's a long shot - you will come in. I genuinely want to leave my day job, and would so if the right opportunity came along. Which is why i'm looking for someone who can put regular work my way. I'll work for you, doing whatever you want. I'm proficient in most standard PC and Mac packages, as well as CSS and HTML. I'm currently starting to teach myself PHP, and the past 2 months i've been doing some SEO work for a few small projects. And that's only things related to the internet. This isn't a joke, or a scam, or anything like that. I'm looking at earning around £1000 / $2000 a month to start. So whether it's 1 person paying £1000, or 5 people paying £200, it doesn't bother me. Hell, it could be 20 people paying £50 a month! I know there are sites out there for freelancers, etc, but before I tried them, I thought i'd ask on DP. I post on here infrequently, but browse every day. I can provide a copy of my CV if need be, as well as all projects i've been involved in, and am currently involved, as well as an extensive list of the skills i've got. Admittedly, I'm not expecting a great response from this, but you don't get anywhere in life without asking. Any questions, don't hesitate to PM me. Cheers Dan
Hey, it was worth a shot. If anyone needs any services, I'm sure I would be able to help. Won't bring this thread back if it goes off the main page. E-mail address is dan.smith86 at gmail.com if anyone wants to get in touch. Thanks for your time. Dan
Dan, I'm looking for someone with PHP skills to partner on a project with me. If you're interested it wouldn't be instant income but could be huge down the line. PM me if you're interested.
