    Hi Guys,

Ok, i have a site that has about 10,000 + unique pages.
Good idea - lets create a sitemap.
Created a sitemap some 8-12 months ago.
Added it to google webmaster tools ...

Started off everything working great and even saw a rise in traffic.
Notice G was indexing maybe 100 new pages every couple of days -- very pleased.
Got about 5500 pages indexed and then it started to drop?
(no errors showing in G webmaster tools)
Finally dropped to like 500 pages indexed?
Then indexing started again and traffic grew.
This time got to just under 5000 pages and started to drop?
Again got to low hundreds and started to climb again.

Last week again i had 5000+ pages indexed and then the drop again? I have now got to about 2500+ and still dropping?

Why am i not getting anything over 6000 indexed?
    Is this common?
My site map is in one single file? should i break it into 2 site maps?

    HELP ...

no need to break your sitemap file. what is happening with you is quite common and Google do it with all the sites.

Where do you get the numbers from? The indexed URLs numbers in webmaster tools are wrong.
